ATOS Miscellany
Some DIY projects for ATOS pilots

ATOS_trolley.jpg (9883 bytes) A simple trolley to make transporting the ATOS easy.   It also makes it easier to put it on the car rack single handed.  The wide straps are velcroed around the spars just forward of the flaps.  All you need is an old pram and about 1/2 hour to make it!
ATOS_Skid_1.jpg (12965 bytes) A clamp-on skid/knuckle protector made of a wood core, Styrofoam sides and carbon fibre (2 layers) skid base and epoxy.  It includes a cutaway to allow it not to foul the flap rope.  These took a while and were messy to make, but they look very nice!
ATOS_Skid_2.jpg (6422 bytes) How the skid clamps on, with two 6mm Allen head bolts into nylocks epoxied into the sandwich.

ATOS_Ribs.jpg (11132 bytes)

ATOS ribs - with a string to retract them all at once when packing up.  The ATOS sail is really easy to remove, and the leading edges can be separated in moments.  This shot was taken during a complete strip/inspection, with both spars disconnected and the sail removed.

The ultimate accessory- a self-launch system!   (click on the pic for a larger view in a new window!)

Poor Mans Cam Lever

The poor man's cam lever made of some scrap 3mm and 1mm plate , 4 pop rivets and 1/2 hour's work with a saw, file and pop rivetter.

Click [here] for a rough construction diagram.  Please note that the two side plates should not overlap the main plate by more than 1.5mm at the inside end so you don't damage the webbing that passes through the fishcam.

It really makes a difference, not only to the ease of assembly but to the wear and tear on your fingers.
